Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) Demonstrator Project Case Studies

The Demonstrator project laid the foundations for the main HNES scheme, which opened to applications in 2023.

The Heat Network Efficiency Scheme (HNES) Demonstrator project was a £4.18 million grant scheme that ran throughout the 2021/22 financial year.

It was designed to support improvements to existing district or communal heating projects to deliver short-term and sustained efficiency improvements, reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, and improve outcomes for customers and operators. The Demonstrator project subsequently laid the foundations for the main scheme, which opened to applications in 2023.

These Capital Works and Optimisation Study case studies relate to the Demonstrator project.
