Following a competitive tender and rigorous selection process, Gemserv is delighted to announce that it will continue to deliver the Government’s flagship heat network capital grant support scheme for a further five years, under the Triple Point Heat Networks Investment Management consortium.
This new contract will enable the continued delivery of the scheme and the deployment of additional funding that may become available over the next 2-4 financial years, along with the monitoring and reporting of projects supported by the GHNF and its predecessor, the Heat Networks Investment Project.
Gemserv was originally appointed in 2022 to deliver the GHNF, and today’s announcement will extend our work on the programme until 2030. The news comes just weeks after it was announced that Gemserv’s bid to continue delivering the Heat Network Efficiency Schame (HNES) was also successful.
Triple Point originally joined forces with Gemserv, and other partners, to deliver the GHNF’s predecessor in 2018, the Heat Networks Investment Project (HNIP). Since then, Gemserv has gone from strength to strength, being a critical Delivery Partner to Government in delivering their heat network strategy.
We are also the Shadow Service Provider (SSP) for the Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme (HNTAS), which is central to ensuring that new and existing heat networks comply with a minimum level of performance and reliability, improving consumer outcomes.
Under the next phase of the GHNF contract, Gemserv will continue to be responsible for data processing and reporting, engaging stakeholders and ensuring a smooth application journey for public, private and third sector projects seeking to access funding support. By the end of the next round the Fund will have helped connect nearly 70,000 homes and 1,700 non-domestic customers to heat networks.
Our vital work on the scheme will be delivered alongside our consortium partners, including Triple Point, AECOM, Amberside Advisors, Asteros, and Lux Nova Partners.
You can find out more about how Gemserv is leading the charge in creating a thriving heat network industry across the UK on our website.
David Hiller, Programme Director at Gemserv, added:
We are delighted and honoured to be continuing our vital work helping to deliver the GHNF for another five years.
This news once again means that Gemserv is at the heart of the Government’s Heat Network Transformation Programme. For years to come, Gemserv will steer the creation of a thriving heat network market across the country, delivering more sustainable heating to homes and buildings at scale.
Minister for Energy Consumers, Miatta Fahnbulleh, said:
Developing heat networks with a green heating source not only helps our mission to reach net zero but also helps communities to benefit from low-cost and efficient heating.
Our Green Heat Network Fund supports innovative projects to do this, with low-carbon heat from sources such as data centres and factories providing hot water to connected buildings.
This new contract means we will work with Triple Point to support the creation of more heat networks as we make Britain a clean energy superpower.
