Gemserv shortlisted for three Unlock Net Zero awards

22nd May, 2025

The Unlock Net Zero awards celebrate positive climate action in the environment and property sectors to deliver a successful net zero transition. Gemserv was shortlisted in three categories of their upcoming awards.

Ilias Vazaios, Head of Energy Consulting, said:

I’m delighted that Gemserv has been nominated for three Unlock Net Zero Awards this year. It’s a testament to the dedication of our team and the positive impact we continue to have on supporting the decarbonisation of the housing sector. Being recognised across three categories as a business, for an individual team member, and for a project we’ve led highlights the breadth and depth of our contribution. These nominations reflect the strength of our team, the quality of our partnerships, and, most importantly, the impact for our clients.

We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our sector with our clients and partners at the awards ceremony.

Gemserv is shortlisted for the following awards:

Organisation of the Year

For over 15 years, Gemserv has led the way in net zero policy development for the energy sector. From energy efficiency measures to low carbon heating solutions, we support the energy transition at both local and national levels. We help our clients by supporting them to:

  • build strong evidence bases to guide policy and strategy,
  • leverage our deep expertise and collaborations with industry, and
  • articulate their policy needs and ambitions.

Climate Champion – Will Taylor

As the leader of Gemserv’s retrofit consultancy team, Will has had a significant impact on the retrofit and low carbon sector. He has worked with clients across the industry and the private and public sectors to deliver impactful research. His work on retrofit delivery, and jobs and workforce has been referenced in Parliament by Ministers and MPs. It has unlocked hundreds of thousands of pounds of funding and influenced both national and local policy.

Collaboration of the year – Education and Engagement

Established in 2023, the National Home Decarbonisation Group (NHDG) is a membership organisation representing Tier 1 contractors and energy suppliers, for which Gemserv operates secretariat services. This year the NHDG collaborated with Futurebuild and Innovate UK to host the Big Retrofit Challenge. The aim of this challenge was to platform smaller organisations with unique innovations able to tackle some of the biggest challenges in home decarbonisation. It saw seven winners showcase their innovations on the National Retrofit Conference stage at Futurebuild!
