Gemserv welcomes the Government’s long awaited Biomass Strategy published last week which sets out its view on the best use of biomass to support the UK’s net zero target.
The strategy provides the biomass sector greater certainty on the role of biomass and has proposed a range of actions that will ensure the sustainability and cost-effective use of biomass in the future.
We were pleased to undertake a review of the responses to the call for evidence which informed the strategy in 2021 and it is great to see the views from respondents clearly reflected in the vision that is set out.
Samantha Shea, Head of Policy Insights and Engagement, highlights:
Working with the Government on the development of the new Biomass Strategy has been incredibly interesting and it was great to see consensus on many topics. This long awaited strategy highlights the important role biomass will continue to play in our energy mix; across heating, industrial decarbonisation and power.
