Gemserv is proud to be providing Secretariat services to an exciting new home decarbonisation group committed to accelerating the Net Zero transition.
The National Home Decarbonisation Group (NHDG) contains over 20 of the UK’s leading contractors and residential retrofit specialists, and it is expected that the majority of large-scale domestic retrofit work in the UK will be carried out by its members in the coming years.
As part of its secretariat role, Gemserv is helping to drive forward the NHDG’s core mission to deliver high-quality energy efficiency measures and low carbon technologies at scale across the UK’s housing stock.
Gemserv’s strong track record serving as Secretariat for the National Insulation Association (NIA) since 2019, makes us ideally placed to support the NHDG’s work.
Rhianna Holt, NHDG Secretariat Manager, said the following about Gemserv’s involvement in the Group:
It’s an exciting time to be part of the secretariat team at Gemserv for the National Home Decarbonisation Group (NHDG) and it’s great to see so much passion, commitment and contribution from all our members since the launch event in July. I’m looking forward to the upcoming policy, green skills and innovation working group discussions; together the group can really make a difference to drive delivery of energy efficiency measures and low carbon technologies at scale across the UK.
The NHDG will focus on three core areas critical to achieving the government’s ambitious decarbonisation targets for the sector:
- Growing the retrofit supply chain
- Advising on policy
- Stimulating innovation
By focusing on these core areas, the group will support thousands of households during the ongoing energy, cost of living, health, and climate crises.
The NHDG’s inaugural meeting in July saw over 50 attendees from all over the UK gathered in person, including senior figures from the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero, such as Selvin Brown, Director of Net Zero Buildings. Gemserv’s James Higgins was one of the keynote speakers at the meeting and set out the integral role we will play in supporting the NHDG’s activities. Through our expert knowledge of the energy efficiency sector, combined with expertise in policy advocacy, communications and stakeholder engagement, Gemserv will help the Group to deliver on its ambitious objectives.
Derek Horrocks, chair of the National Home Decarbonisation Group, said:
The formation of the group and the commitment already seen from founding members is a defining moment for the residential decarbonisation retrofit industry.
The stature of our founding members cannot be ignored, and we’re all excited about embracing what the future holds.
The time is now – and together we have the ambition, resource and drive to push forward, with the opportunity to improve the lives of thousands of people up and down the country currently facing some of the biggest energy and climate crises of our time.
Gemserv is delighted be part of such an exciting initiative with the potential to positively impact the lives of people up and down the country.
