Nigel Wilkinson

Head of Energy Consulting

Nigel is Gemserv’s Head of Energy Consulting having joined the company in February 2021. He is an energy industry professional whose career is rooted in energy transmission, supply and utilities consulting. Nigel has been at the centre of energy industry reform and is highly experienced in delivering strategic change.

Before joining Gemserv, Nigel worked for PA for six years, supporting a range of clients within the utilities space. His primary work has been on consulting on the regulatory framework surrounding smart metering and supporting financial institutions in their smart investments. He also helps clients improve their regulatory reporting, conducting due diligence and acting as a critical friend. His broader experience includes consulting for the water regulator on delivering its price controls and co-leading on the delivery of a new and innovative water regulatory agency. His experience also includes leading an investigation in how life sciences value chains could be made more resilient. Moreover, as a research scientist by training, with a PhD in physics and an MBA he is also able to apply a technical lens to commercial problems and to cut through complexity to benefit his clients.

Nigel has won the trust of c-suite execs. With his excellent stakeholder management capability, he can mediate outcomes between senior managers, facilitate meetings and workshops and challenge where appropriate. However, he has an inclusive, positive and diplomatic style which keeps people on-side when deadlines are tight, and teams are working under pressure.
