The NHS is undergoing one of the biggest changes in its history, with the formation of Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) to bring together health and social care. Alongside those structural changes, ICSs are also creating Green Plans to help meet the NHS’s net zero targets. Taken together, these two developments create an opportunity to both improve health on a population-scale and tackle climate change, allowing ICS partners to save money and boost their local economies along the way.
Gemserv have written a paper that recommends steps ICSs can take to boost sustainability and public health as they put policies and structures in place to move from voluntary partnerships to statutory bodies.
